Changes to REV23 Gift Cards

As we’ve moved to CardConnect for our credit card processing, the usefulness of our magnetic stripe swiper was instantly reduced, only left reading gift cards, and a handful of state driver’s licenenses, most of which are phasing out magnetic stripes anyways. Because we do not (currently) have the ability to read our magnetic stripes through the CardConnect terminals, we didn’t want the swiper taking up extra room on your counter if you didn’t need it.

Today, we’re happy to announce that starting in REV23 Desktop v18.1, we’ve added support for barcoded gift cards, rather than the standard magnetic stripe. We’ve worked with our gift card partner to offer barcodes on your REV23 gift cards and you can order them starting now. REV23 Desktop v18.1 will officially be available in the coming weeks and is already available in Preview, if you’d like to see it early!

Additionally, we recognize not everyone wants to use our gift card partner for whatever reason. However, because REV23 gift cards have unique numbers, generated by a specific algorithm which determines the validity of a gift card number, you previously couldn’t just go get some random numbers printed on some cards from Ma & Pa’s Gift Card Co. We’ve heard your feedback on this.

So, today, we’re also announcing the availability of Gift Card Number Lots, which will be generated uniquely for you. For $15.00/ea, you can acquire a lot of 100 gift card numbers to do as you wish with them (except share them with another shop owner.) Your gift card numbers will be randomly generated and delivered to you in a text file, at which point, you can give them to a gift card printer of your choosing, or mail merge them into your own paper gift certificates. We’ve also released our specification for gift card magnetic stripes, though we recommend you stick with barcodes if you’re going with anyone other than our specific partner.
